The climb up the Illecillewaet Valley from Revelstoke

to Glacier, Rogers Pass and the Connaught Tunnel was

the centerpiece of operation on John Marlor's layout.

Trains over eight cars literally required addition of a

pusher locomotive at Revelstoke in order to make the

grade. Pictured next to the bridge is a velocipede, a

three wheel handcar used by one person to travel

along and inspect the track. High in the mountains

John provided brooms and shovels so that crews could

clean out the points of switches to ensure complete

closure.
